Heating systems
Furnaces and boilers sized from a heat loss calculation, not from the label on the old unit.
Cobourg, Ontario
Cobourg · Northumberland County
Nordmen is a small mechanical company on William Street. We size, install and service comfort systems for homes and small buildings, and we would rather do it once than do it twice.
Every system starts with a heat loss calculation, not a guess from the driveway.
Drop cloths down, lines level, shutoffs labelled, and a walkthrough before we leave.
Maintenance on the calendar, filters on time, and small problems caught small.
Approach
Nordmen has worked out of Cobourg since 2015. We are deliberately small: the person who quotes your job is the person who installs it, and nobody here is paid commission to sell you a bigger machine than the house needs.
Most of our work comes from the same streets year after year, which is exactly how we want it. A properly sized system, installed cleanly and serviced on schedule, does not give you reasons to call anyone else.
Services
Furnaces and boilers sized from a heat loss calculation, not from the label on the old unit.
Central air and ductless systems. Installed level, charged by the numbers, quiet on the wall.
Cold climate systems for homes that want one machine doing the whole year's work.
Tanks, tankless and combi units. Efficient, correctly vented, and sized for the household.
HRVs, ERVs and filtration. Tight houses need to breathe on purpose, not by accident.
Rooftop units, shops, small offices and mixed use buildings, maintained under contract.
Process
We measure the house and look at the ducts before we talk about equipment.
One written number covering equipment, labour, permits and disposal. No surprises later.
Drop cloths, level lines, labelled shutoffs, and a full walkthrough before we pack up.
Maintenance booked to the calendar so small problems get caught while they are small.
Work we are happy to put our name under.

They spent forty minutes measuring before quoting, and the quote was two pages of exactly what would happen. The install matched it to the letter. The basement was cleaner when they left than when they arrived.
We run a small commercial plaza in Port Hope and Nordmen holds the maintenance contract. Rooftop units serviced on the schedule they promised, reports after every visit, and not one tenant complaint since.
Three companies quoted us a bigger furnace. Nordmen did the math and put in a smaller one that heats the house better than the old unit ever did. The gas bill agrees with them.

FAQ
Yes, light commercial: rooftop units, shops, restaurants, small offices and mixed use buildings, usually under a maintenance contract with scheduled visits and a written report after each one. We do not take on large industrial plants, and we will say so rather than learn on your building.
With a heat loss calculation done at the house: envelope, windows, insulation and ductwork, not the nameplate of the old unit. Oversized equipment short cycles, wears out early and dehumidifies badly. It is the most common mistake in this trade and the easiest one to avoid.
We install Mitsubishi, Daikin, Carrier, Lennox, Viessmann and NTI, and we service everything, whoever installed it. For a new system we recommend what fits the building and the budget, and we will tell you plainly when the cheaper option is the right one.
A scheduled visit each season we service your equipment: inspection, cleaning, combustion or refrigerant checks as applicable, filters, and a short written report. Plan customers also get first call on after hours service. Pricing depends on the equipment, so ask when you request your estimate.
Installations carry our written workmanship warranty on top of the manufacturer's equipment warranty, and repairs carry a one year warranty. The exact terms are printed on your quote before you accept it, which is where a guarantee belongs.
Estimates are usually booked within a few days. Service calls for existing customers are prioritised, and maintenance plan customers have access to after hours help. We would rather give you an honest date than a fast promise we cannot keep.
Contact
A sentence or two is enough. We will reply with sensible questions and a time for a site visit.

Nordmen Mechanical Inc operates this website. Our office is at 3-609 William St, Cobourg, Ontario K9A 3A6. You can reach us at 365 398 5299 or hello@nordmenmechanical.com.
This website has no database and no server side code. It does not create accounts, set advertising cookies, or store anything about you on our end.
The service request form does not send anything to us directly. When you press the button, it opens your own email application with the details already filled in. Nothing reaches us until you press send in that window, and your message then travels through your email provider like any other email you write. If you close that window instead, we never receive it.
When you contact us by form, phone or email you normally give us your name, phone number, email address, the town you live in, and a description of the problem. If you go ahead with work, we also collect your service address and details of the equipment we work on.
To book a site visit, quote the work, carry out the service, invoice you, honour warranty claims, and keep the service history for your equipment. We do not sell your information and we do not share it for marketing.
Other parties see your information only where the job requires it: the TSSA and municipal inspectors when a permit is filed for gas work, equipment manufacturers when we register a warranty in your name, our payment processor, and our accountant. Each receives only what that task needs.
This page loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address and browser details when the page loads. Apart from that, this site sets no cookies and runs no analytics, advertising or session recording tools.
We keep service and invoice records for as long as we need them to support warranty claims, gas inspection records, and Canadian tax and business requirements. Enquiries that do not lead to work are cleared out periodically.
Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act you can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and withdraw your consent for us to keep using it. Write to hello@nordmenmechanical.com. If our answer does not satisfy you, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of it.

These terms cover your use of this website. They do not replace the written estimate, work order or invoice you sign for actual work. Where this website and a signed document disagree, the signed document governs.
Everything on this page describes our services in general terms. Heating, cooling and gas work depend on the specific building and equipment. Nothing here is technical advice for your particular home, and nothing here creates a contract.
This site does not publish prices. The price for your work is the one we give you in writing after we have seen the building, and you approve it before work begins. Nothing on this page should be read as a quote or an offer of a particular price.
Any scheduling estimates on this site are targets under normal conditions. Severe weather and seasonal demand can stretch them. We will always give you an honest date rather than a fast promise.
Workmanship and equipment warranties are set out in the paperwork for your specific job. Manufacturer warranties are the manufacturer's obligation and follow their terms. Coverage can be voided by work performed by others, by missed maintenance, or by damage from causes outside the equipment itself.
Gas work in Ontario may only be carried out by TSSA certified technicians, and most of it requires a permit and inspection. We will provide licence and insurance details on request before an appointment. We do not perform unpermitted gas work and we will not certify work done by unlicensed persons.
Where this site links elsewhere, we are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites.
This website is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from your use of the website itself. This does not limit our responsibility for work we actually perform, which is covered by your work order and by the consumer protection legislation that applies to it.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
